SCAM! I closed my T-Mobile account about 2 years ago and always paid my bills by auto-pay, my account was paid in full when I closed it. Then all of a sudden, my almost perfect credit score drops significantly because I get a collection notice for $167. I never received any documentation on what it's for. I do know that I paid everything in full when I closed the account about 2 years ago. Now I have this collection on my credit report.

Like many of you, I'm in the T-mobile 'past due bill' sent to collections boat.
The company I work for took over my account Oct 2022 and 1 of the stipulations was, you could not have a past due balance to qualify for this incentive. I guess after closing my personal account and turning it over to the company I work for, T-mobile showed I had 1 more payment for my phone. A $212 payment. I was never contacted directly via phone or mail from T-mobile for this. A collections company did call me several months ago, saying I had a past due balance and they were ready to take my credit card information for it. Obviously, I was hesitant, looked into this by contacting my place of work and they said I had no past due balance that they could see on their end. Well, apparently they couldn't see it because it was a personal balance- not something I owed since they took over my bill.

I figure this out after calling after calling Southwest Credit System and a gentleman named Roopesh gave me this information. I told him I was going to contact T-mobile to confirm this. It's indeed true. Now my credit score has dropped almost 100 points due to T-mobile sucking and not looking out for me as a customer.
Do your research. SCS may be a collection agency, and no one loves those, but they did offer me a 'discounted' amount if I went ahead and paid them directly today. Saved me about $100 from the original past due balance.

My story is like the rest. Call out of the blue to pay $79 for a tmobile account that I had on autopay. I said who are you? I called tmobile they said my accounts were settled. I believed this was a scam, got a call a year later or so, then a few months ago I got a delinquent marking on my credit report.

I think it's time for a class action law suite between this company and tmobile. There is so much reason to believe this is not legit, then they go in and screw up your credit. They couldn't even supply my tmobile account that was apparently behind $79. For which I never received any mail or contact regarding an account that is behind. This is the most absurd thing I've encountered dealing with a large business. Unbelievable. And the guy calling on the phone just kept saying, sir how do you want to pay for this, we take visa and mastercard.

I don't know what kind of arrangement was made, but reading through other reviews on here that came to say that this is legit, makes me think tmobile is culpable even more so than this company.

All the reviews had me skeptical but they provided plenty of information that only the original company that I owed money to would've had, the lady was super helpful and nice, ill edit the review when it gets removed from my credit report!

(Edit) derogatory mark removed in the time frame they gave me

Scammers, I don’t have t-mobile and never had t-mobile but they tried to charge my card and it was blocked I don’t know why they tried it but I never heard or talked to them or anybody and don’t know how they got my card number, glad my bank protection stopped the charge and I will be getting a new card

I suddenly have $82 in collections for T-Mobile. I've been on auto pay for years and I've never been contacted once about a balance past due or anything it just showed up in my credit report on Equifax which I disputed but it came back saying it was a legitimate charge.
I want it off my credit report but I don't even know who to pay since I was never even contacted. After reading all these reviews I have half a mind not to pay it. Any suggestions?

Company is a sham. They contacted me in December 2023 for a debt that T-Mobile supposedly sent to them for collection. That seemed odd to me because I closed my T-Mobile account on November 17, 2023 so why would they immediately send my final bill payment to collections one month later? Plus, T-Mobile never notified me of a bill I had to pay or that there was an attempt to collect a debt by the time I received the email from SWC.

I disputed the original request for payment I received from SWC. From there, it was a headache trying to figure out who to pay - SWC or T-Mobile? I tried to use the SWC payment portal but it couldn't locate my account. I called the payment line, my account didn't exist. I sent multiple emails to SWC Executive Relations team and received zero responses. I finally got someone on the phone and she said that the supervisor handling my dispute was unable to talk to me because there was a fire drill in the building and they were evacuated -- but she was on the phone able to tell me that What a joke.

Long story short, I was able to pay T-Mobile directly for the final amount I had due from closing my account mid-billing cycle. SWC was not helpful, and I don't believe that they are a legitimate company.

First, you will need to negotiate with Southwest Credit Systems. Tell the debt collector that you will pay half of the debt in exchange for an entry deletion. You will need to go back and forth with them until you reach a settlement. Once you work out a deal, get the agreement in writing from Southwest Credit Systems.
